ED from Blood Pressure?

To better understand how high blood pressure can lead to erectile dysfunction, we first need to have understanding of how erections work. Getting an erection might seem like an easy process but is really a complicated process.

Anatomy of an Erection

In the rod of the penis there are 2 side-by-side chambers of spongy tissue called the corpora cavernosa. They are the ones mainly responsible for erections. Just below those chambers is another compartment called the corpus spongiosum. The urethra, which carries semen and urine, runs through the center of it.

When you get an erection, nerve signals from a man’s brain or from the nerve endings in your penis cause the smooth muscle of the chambers to relax and arteries to dilate, or open wider. This allows a lot of blood to fill the empty area. The pressure of blood flow is what causes somebody to get an erection.

Factors Responsible for erectile dysfunction

High blood pressure is a major cause of erectile dysfunction. Research found that about 49% of men ages 40-79 with high blood pressure had of erectile dysfunction.

High blood pressure keeps the arteries that carry blood into the penis from dilating the way they’re supposed to. It also makes the smooth muscle in the penis lose its ability to relax. As a result, not enough blood flows into the penis to make it erect.

Men with high blood pressure may also have a low testosterone level. Testosterone is the male hormone that plays a big role in sexual arousal.

High blood pressure by itself can lead to erectile dysfunction. But some drugs for treating high blood pressure can actually be the cause as well.

Diuretics (or water pills) and beta-blockers are the blood pressure pills most commonly linked to sexual dysfunction.

Water Pills may cause sexual dysfunction by decreasing the force of blood flow into the penis. They may also reduce the amount of zinc in the body. Your body needs zinc to make testosterone.

β-blockers dampen the response to nerve impulses that lead to a hardness. They also make it more difficult for the arteries in the penis to widen and let the blood in. What’s more, they can make a man feel intoxicated and dull – and the mind always plays some act in sexual arousal.

Sometimes, some choices men with high blood pressure make can add to the issue. Smoking, usually, is one of those. Smoking increases blood pressure, and damages blood vessels and reduces blood circulation all around the body.

The power to take control of your blood pressure and your sexual health is in your hands. By living a healthy lifestyle and working with your family doctor, there’s a very good chance you’ll once again be able to have normal sexual function.

At the end, if you happen to have erectile dysfunction, then talk to your family doctor regarding generic Cialis tadalafil (tadalafil 20mg) to see which is the right treatment for you.

Diabetes = Impotence?

Sex seems like an eternally stimulating, rewarding and straightforward act. However, for lot of people and partners the reality is a little different. This article is about erectile dysfunction, a common sexual problem in men with diabetes.

What is ED

Sexual dysfunction is defined as the persistent inability to get or sustain an erection that is suitable for sexual activity. Lot of men will experience sexual problems during their course of life, but if the problem lasts for 3 months or longer, it is medically described as Sexual dysfunction.

Although Sexual dysfunction can affect most men at some point in their lives, it is much more common in men with diabetes. 50% of men will experience Sexual dysfunction within ten years of diagnosis of diabetes. Men who are older with a longer period of diabetes, poor blood glucose control, and who smoke, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and heart disease, are at a higher risk.

Diabetes causes cause damage to the walls of the blood vessels, which affects circulation and blood flow to the penis. Sexual dysfunction can also be a side effect of drugs that are often prescribed to men with diabetes.

Treating ED

There are a number of effective treatments for Sexual dysfunction. It is important for couples to be involved in any discussion about treatment choices.

Medications called PDE5 inhibitors like generic Cialis Tadalafil (Tadalafil 20mg), Sildenafil, and Levitra help men achieve and maintain an erection. With help from partner, these Medications increase blood flow to the penis, allowing an erection to occur naturally.

Tadalafil On Demand

Canadian medication stores have begun stocking a new full-time version of an anti-impotence medication its makers say will allow men to be sexually spontaneous, day and night.

Tadalafil was originally planned to be taken on a when needed basis, with one pill lasting up to 36 hours, earning it the slogan “Le Weekend” when first approved in Europe back in 2002.

Now it’s being repackaged and sold in a once-a-day, lower-dose version. Taken daily, the medication builds in a man’s body until it reaches a circulating level in the bloodstream that could allow men to be sexually active whenever the time is right, according to a news release issued by medication giant, Eli Lilly and ICOS.

Once-a-day Tadalafil 20mg will cost $3.80 per capsule.

Last year, more than 1.6 million prescriptions for sexual dysfunction medications were prescribed by Canadian medication stores, according to prescription medication tracking firm IMS Health Canada . About 593,000 of those prescriptions were for tadalafil, the generic name for generic Tadalafil.

Tadalafil belongs to a class of medications known as PDE-5 inhibitors that includes Sildenafil and Levitra. The medication acts on the chemical signals that open up the blood vessels in the penis.

The medications aren’t thought to benefit men with normal sexual function. And there can be rare side-effects that can include headache, facial flushing and dysphasia. The medication should not be used by men who are taking nitrates or those with heart disease “for whom sexual action is not advisable,” Lilly Icos says.

Lilly Icos says once-a-day sexual dysfunction medications can help with what is known as “penile rehabilitation” after prostate cancer surgery.

In addition, men who experience side effects with the as needed Tadalafil may better stand the once-a-day version, which comes in 2.5 and 5 mg capsules, says Lilly Icos.
